Tree Care and Tree Surgeons is not a service that you use every day, but is a task that you can ill afford to take risks with. There are so many risks and hazards associated with tree work that we, at Arborfield Tree Care, we believe health and security for all is paramount.
Ensure that the tree company that you choose has staff and personnel that are qualified to work as a tree surgeon for everyone including the general pubic, neighbours, you and the staff conducting the work. There are struct guidelines for those that work in the sector and it is essential that those carrying out the work have the appropriate qualifications.
- CS30 – Maintenance of the chainsaw, on-site preparation and basic cross-cutting
- CS31 – Fell and process small trees • CS38 – Climb a tree and perform aerial rescue
- CS39 – Use of a chainsaw from a rope and harness
- First Aid at Work
Checkatrade have some great tips for you when selecting a trustworthy tradesperson and trustworthy tree surgeons
At Arborfield Tree Care, our staff also hold City & Guilds certifications and these are more advanced qualifications for the forestry and arboriculture sector. In principle what this means to you is that our staff have more advanced qualifications to recognise that our tree surgeons have reached an agreed standard of competence. Many of these qualifications are highly specialised, focusing on tasks like pruning, emergency tree work operations and aerial tree rigging.
Arborfield Tree Care are proud to be registered as tree surgeons on Checkatrade where we have hundreds of excellent reviews. Here is a snapshot of the tree surgery, tree care, hedge maintenance, log supplies, stump grinding, tree felling, tree dismantling and crown reduction reviews for 2023
When looking for a tree surgeon, we would recommend that you ensure that the company you select has the staff with the experience, knowledge and qualifications outlined above to carry out the work required.
Ask questions to the surveyor about the time that they have been working in the Treecare sector and the experience and competencies of the team.
Ask about public liability insurance and for larger projects case studies and evidence of works undertaken. After all in this age of digital, it is easy to infer and imply that you have worked on a project. It’s harder to prove it. We are always pleased to show evidence and talk to you about our fabulous credentials; we have earned them and are only too happy to share these with you.
Look at accreditations such as Checkatrade and City and Guild accreditations and supporting evidence. Another way to test the tree work surveyor is to ask if they are able to explain the British Standards to which the works will be completed. For reference the two main ones are:
British Standard 3998:2010 (BS3998:2010)
British Standard 5837:2012 (BS5837:2012)
Additionally look at the reviews that the company has across multiple platforms such as:
- Google My Business
- Yell
- Trustist
- Trustpilot
- Checkatrade
- Bark
These are just a few examples, but look at the frequency and the period of time that these reviews have been collated. Looking at reviews along with referrals from friends and family will always help you to choose your perfect partner for Treecare work and log supplies.
